Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost of SOAR?
SOAR is FREE. There are no costs associated with registration or use of the program. SOAR is funded through a Congressional appropriation.

Who is eligible to use SOAR?
SOAR was designed for all military families worldwide and classmates of military dependents in schools serving military installations. Coast Guard, Reserve, and National Guard families are also eligible.

What grade levels does SOAR target?
SOAR content is most appropriate for students in grades 3-11. There is limited material available for 2nd grade students. Younger students may need adult assistance to navigate the program.

I forgot my username. How do I access it?
The email address that you register with is known as the ‘Account Email’. This is the parent username login for SOAR.

Where do my children go to logon to SOAR?
Both parents and students use www.SoarAtHome.org. Children will then click on the Returning Student’s Sign-in icon in the red box.

I am registered, but have forgotten my password. What do I do?
Click on the ‘Lost Password?’ link and enter your username and email address and a new password will be sent to you. If your account email and contact email are the same, you will enter them both here. If your contact email is different than your account email, enter the contact email address under ‘E-mail Address’.

I am a non-military family registering for SOAR. What do I choose in the Military Installation option on the registration page?
Select the nearest military installation to you. If you do not know this information, choose ‘Other’.

I am a non-military family registering for SOAR. What do I choose in the Service Branch option on the registration page?
Select ‘Civilian’.

What is ‘Primary Contact Email’ and how does it differ from ‘Account Email’?
The ‘Account email’ or username will never change. However, if you move or change email address you can edit this under ‘Primary Contact Email’. This will ensure that you receive periodic updates on the SOAR program.

What are the technical requirements to access SOAR?

SOAR is completely web-based and will run on a dial-up modem. A high-speed connection is preferable for student activities. Parent and student tutorials require Adobe Flash player version 8 or higher. To download Flash for free, click on this link: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

What do I do if the Parent Tutorials and/or Student Tutorials are not viewable on my computer?
Be sure you have pop-up blockers turned off for these sites as the tutorials open in a new window. The tutorials also use Adobe Flash. See the previous question for information on installing Flash.

How can I see what my child has been working on in SOAR?
Once you are logged in, go to Educational Resources and choose ‘Access Your Child’s Account’. This will allow you to enter their account and see completed assessments and tutorials. For more information on Reports, view the Parent Tutorial.

How do I update my child’s grade level or change their location?
Click on ‘Educational Resources’, click ‘Access Your Child’s Account’, click ‘Edit’. This will bring you to a screen where you can change name, grade, state, military installation and password for the student.

Where can I access information on state standards or schools serving a specific military installation?
Click on ‘State and Military Specific Resources, click on the State of your new installation and resources will be displayed.
